Northwest Arkansas Regional (XNA), a commercial service airport in Northwest Arkansas operated by the Northwest Regional Airport Authority. Located 15 miles from the Fayetteville/Springdale area, the airport occupies 2,184 acres. There is one runway located at the airport, Runway 16-34, measuring 8,800 feet in length. The runway is equipped with a full length parallel taxiway. Runways 16 and 34 are served by both an ILS precision instrument approach, as well as a non-precision instrument approach. The airport is one of the newest in the country, having opened in 1998. Six major airlines provide scheduled service to major cities throughout the country. Some business aviation activity occurs at the airport, though smaller general aviation operations are minimal.
